VisionMission

Our Vision / Mission

Our Vision

Individuals and organizations are empowered to systematically solve challenges, manage change, and generate innovation.

Our Mission

Our products and services help clients solve mission-critical challenges by addressing their root causes and producing practical, fully integrated solutions that are client owned and easy to manage.

Our Philosophy

Philosophy

A philosophy of learning is the foundation of all instructional design work. This philosophy drives all phases of development and shapes the resulting learning solutions to reflect its tenets.

Our philosophy has evolved over the years spent in the role of learner, educator, instructional designer, manager, and parent. It is based on a combination of theories and concepts, including constructivism, problem-based learning, anchored instruction, and authentic assessment.

Constructivism

According to constructivism, learners construct knowledge by reconciling what they already know with new information and contexts. In support of this process, they can benefit from frameworks and mental models that provide a systematic way of organizing information and creating meaning. We promote the design of learning solutions that use a constructivist approach because it allows learners to develop skillsets that are highly transferrable.

Problem-Based Learning and Anchored Instruction

In problem-based learning and anchored instruction, learners work both individually and in teams to define, research, and solve real-world problems. They learn through experience, communication, and reflection. Their learning experiences are anchored in real-world scenarios that allow participants to apply new knowledge and skills more directly in the work environment, or they draw from these experiences as they start or transition into new careers. We subscribe to these approaches because they result in solutions tailored to the client's needs and contexts.

Authentic Assessment

Assessments are used in training and other educational contexts to monitor the learner's performance and progress. Authentic assessments use approaches and criteria that embody the performance standards used in practice. It is crucial to use rubrics with specific criteria that reflect these standards and are aligned with the learning solution's stated objectives and outcomes. In business contexts, employee onboarding and training should use assessments that measure performance on all elements of the job description. The criteria used to assess employees during training should align with on-the-job performance assessments as well as annual performance reviews.
